Assist Mode and accessibility settings

Assist Mode can be changed during gameplay, and it does not block trophies or achievements. Start with the setting that matches the barrier you are experiencing.

Make the information readable

Options → Interface contains subtitle size, backgrounds and speaker names. A visible background and a larger size can make dialogue easier to follow against bright effects. The same tab has controller-icon choices and separate color-compensation intensity for UI and game world.

Keep enemy and player status information visible while you are learning. Hiding HUD elements can make the picture cleaner while also removing feedback you need.

Reduce visual motion one setting at a time

Try disabling Motion Blur or Lens Distortion, and inspect Shift Tunneling if Shift movement is uncomfortable. Change one option, repeat a short route, and keep the setting that makes that route easier to follow.

For input remapping, open Options > Controls. Mouse and controller behavior settings are under Options > Gameplay; inspect sensitivity, axis inversion, supported Hold/Toggle actions, trigger effects and haptics there. Change one input setting, then test a familiar short route before continuing.

A simple adjustment routine

  1. Open Options during gameplay and identify the setting tied to the problem.
  2. Change that setting or start from an Assist Mode preset.
  3. Replay a familiar short encounter or traversal route.
  4. Keep, reduce, or undo the adjustment based on the result.
