Resonants expand the combat toolkit
The gameplay designer describes defeating Resonants as the primary way to acquire new combat abilities. After a victory, read the new ability's description and consider where it fits into a sequence you already understand.
A useful first test is a familiar encounter where you can compare its reach, recovery and interaction with your chosen forms. This page does not invent uncollected ability names or upgrade values.

Two launch-guide examples to test
GAMES.GG’s launch guide recommends testing Ignite against Mold and Push when enemies are near rooftop edges. These are attributed role suggestions rather than universal ability rankings: read your currently available ability text, confirm the encounter and test whether that role solves your problem.

Read the choice before you leave the Gap
The March developer presentation describes exclusive ability choices after a Resonant, with examples including an offensive shield and a turret that can become a bomb. The same presentation places build management in the Gap outside combat. Inspect your selection and its current confirmation before leaving; do not assume a Reset Item reverses every ability choice.
These examples are attributed to the March preview, rather than asserted as a complete launch selection menu.
New Game+ changes your combinations
The New Game+ announcement describes additional flexibility, including equipping multiple abilities from the same Resonant. Treat that as a new build option when available in your run, rather than assuming first-run loadout rules stay identical.

When an ability is hard to follow
Use a familiar short route to test a movement ability. If Shift creates visual discomfort, inspect Shift Tunneling in the game's settings before trying the route again.
